Cooling my heels

I've registered for fall semester - Anatomy and Physiology II and Interpersonal Communications. But at this point it's hard to know what is going to happen. It is very likely that my job will go away in July and I'm not in a position to quit work and go to school full time.

Will find a evening job that will let me attend school as planned? Will I have to give it all up for a year or two?

Who knows.

Where am I starting from?

I've been enrolled in the pre-nursing curriculum at the University of Alaska in Anchorage since last October. I just completed the first semester of this new journey.

I was able to transfer in a large amount of credits from prior journeys and as a result I only have 5 classes (and associated labs for 3 of those) to complete before I can officially apply to the nursing program.

Which is followed by a two year wait as the large number of applicants is slowly absorbed.

I had hoped that I could go part time for another year or so while I continue my present job as a teacher with the state of Alaska, but this seems unlikely. The need for Software developers is weak in this state and I am likely to be out of work starting in August.

Getting Started

Yes "getting started" refers to both this blog and my journey.

I am an adult (no..."mature" is the euphemistic term, I think) male leaving a successful career as a teacher, consultant, developer and systems engineer in information technology. I loved what I did for 25 years but feel a distinct pull to make a substantial change.

My plan is to document my journey. Maybe others will learn from it. Maybe I'll be reminded why I started. Maybe I'll be reminded now and then that the bad day I'm having is *not* the worst day I've ever had.
